reaching out with

christ’s compassion

Thank you to all those who provided winter warmth for the local homeless.

Please see the Cornerstone newsletter here with photo and acknowledgment of your efforts. We are advised that this has provided enough clothing for current needs and requested not to bring any more at this stage.
Thanks too for those providing Longlife milk which is an ongoing weekly need through MADDV. Thanks also to those keeping the Asylum Seeker trolley of non-perishable foods well stocked.
We also thank God for the generosity of Dingley Thai who via Tanya have been providing meals to needy folk at the MADDV distribution and through other channels. You may consider lunching there through the week or weekend as a thanks for their partnership in this work.
It is great to see our church community and local community working together to meet needs through the compassion of Christ.
At the global level our Tanzanian appeal has now topped $10,000 with the first $9000 having been already received by the Anglican Church of Tanzania for their work of education and prevention of the spread of Covid 19 in that nation. Donations can be made through CCD or directly through ARDFA – here

Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Course is Underway!

We are delighted to report that the EHS course has begun with 46 people attending in six small groups last Weds and Thurs. Another 15 people are registered and yet to commence or following the course independently because of their circumstances. Please pray for those leading and participating and those preaching weekly messages, that we will be diligent in making the most of this opportunity with the Holy Spirit’s help and that God will meet with us all as he promises. ‘Draw near to God and he will draw near to you.’ James 4:8

Preaching this Sunday

Preaching this week moves into EHS Chapter 2 – ‘Know yourself that you may know God’ (which could equally and rightly be said as ‘Know God that you may know yourself’) illustrated in the life of David – 1 Samuel 17:26-45. Tanya brings us a powerful message on this theme in this Sunday’s online service – not to be missed!

Prayers

We praise God that A is home from her surgery which she is describing as a miracle. Pray for continued full recovery, also for E, our two J’s, P, J, S, L, C and T, all recovering from surgery or injury or currently undergoing treatment.
In our missionary cycle of prayer please pray this week for SS and G S – church planting at Mill Park. S’s latest prayer letter is here. Please also pray for East Africa, in such desperate plight from drought, locusts and flooding on top of Covid. Pray for ‘Hands at Work’ and for Barnabas Fund as they respond to this crisis.

God bless you. Please pick up the phone and call someone to encourage them and ask RUOK? or pause to pray (see your Church Directory – hard copy available at CCD rear table). You can make a difference!

The Lord is with you.

In Christ’s love, Wayne, Tanya and the staff team at CCD.
